The PDX Sidewalk Joy Map, run by Rachael (PDX Dinorama), showcases the group of curated galleries, exchanges and displays in Portland, OR.

Installed in curb gardens, front yards or sides of buildings these projects were created to bring a bit of whimsy and inspiration to the community. These are all free to enjoy though you’ll want to bring quarters for some of the vending machines or donate to pay for a pottery piece at the Poetry Pottery Box.

  • 3D Printed Pet Station

    Corner of SE 67th and Harold

    Adopt a 3D printed pet at this darling Mt. Scott-Arletta neighborhood delight. The creatures within are for adoption... stewards Dave and Doug don’t expect swaps but you’re welcome to trade if you’d like!

  • 49th Ave Fun

    This spot, created in Spring 2025 by Becca and Kristin, offers a Dinoland play area, a painted rock garden (take a rock or two!), plus magical tiny diorama above the little free library!

  • 58th Avenue Faces Pole

    On SE 58th Ave, north of Lincoln

    Come and add faces of any type to this pole in the Mt. Tabor neighborhood! It’s a community-led effort!

  • 79th Street Diorama

    Near SE 79th Ave & Ash St

    Delightful diorama maintained by an artist and rotated regularly. There are always lots of details and a variety of art types to enjoy including linocut pieces.

  • Affirmation Station

    This bright little installation aims to spread positivity and emphasize that everyone has value. You’ll find a lovely variety of delights inside including

  • Alameda Trading Post

    Near NE 25th Ave and Regents Dr

    Established in April 2025, this installation is for swapping any type of collectible card (i.e. baseball, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, etc). Take-a-card, leave-a-card and tag #pdxtradingpost

  • Alice in Toy Land

    On SE Belmont just west of SE 59th

    Toy lovers of all ages are welcome to take and share toys. If you pass by at night, the fairy lights will lead you there. 

  • The Allery

    This Alberta Arts District alleyway doubles as a gallery run by Jennifer Jones! Each season since 2022 a new artist fills the enormous frames with their own work. 

  • Art School PDX Mug Exchange

    A free library exchange for VHS tapes and other media. Take a tape or leave a tape (or DVD).

  • Biggest Little Library + Poetry Mailbox

    On SE Steele, East of SE 92nd Ave


    Established in 2023, this free library + poetry spot is big enough for little readers to go inside. There is a monthly poem in the Poetry Mailbox + teen and grown up ‘wings’ to the library.

  • Big Red Sun Record Exchange

  • Brooklyn Puzzle Library

    On SE 8th St btwn SE Franklin & Rhine

    Jigsawers rejoice! There’s a little purple puzzle library in front of sweet purple house in the Brooklyn neighborhood. Take a puzzle, leave a puzzle or just check out the ever-changing offerings.

  • Brooklyn Puzzle Swap

    Installed in 2023 as a way for the owner/curator to share puzzles they’d  completed, this sweet little puzzle swap brings a lot of joy to the Brooklyn  neighborhood!

  • Brooklyn SeeSaw

    Near SE 15th Ave & Lafayette St

    Enjoy this lovely, and sturdy, curb garden SeeSaw nestled among moss in the Brooklyn neighborhood. Installed two years ago, it’s a favorite destination for many kids. Teeter-tottering is softened by tires below but play at your own risk.

  • The Car Library

  • Chicken Box

    Beautifully crafted stained glass adorns this chicken-themed everything-goes swap box. Bring by anything weird, wonderful, odd, and entertaining. This is an exchange for happy stuff! 

  • The Chicken Window

    On NE 7th between Stanton & Graham

    In summer of 2022, then six-year-old Olive wanted her chickens to see the world and the world to see her chickens so her parents (Jeff and Amanda) cut a hole in the hedge. Now we all can feed and enjoy the antics of this fabulous flock!

  • Concordia Joy Kiosk

    On NE 41st Street near NE Sumner St

    Hot pink, blue, and orange combo display with a book and tiny things exchange, marble run, and eye-spy plus lots of darling details. Made by 1st-5th graders as part Eloise Grout Koehler and Wesley Grout’s 2023 summer camp.

  • Creston-Kenilworth Toy Swap

    This repurposed crate now houses the cutest little fire-engine red toy swap! While you’re visiting and swapping toys, enjoy marveling at the gorgeous and extensive fairy/dinosaur garden!

  • Little Free Ossuary

    Swap all manner of bones (including dog treats) at the Little Free Ossuary! You may find a skull, cool vertebrae, or more at this Kerns neighborhood stop.

    This little repurposed cabinet is filled with locally collected seeds (mostly native species) as well as zines about resistance. Don’t miss the “I SPY” game for kids and kids-at-heart to spot things hidden around the property!

  • Love Letter Box

    Started in May 2024 by Gretchen Westlight, passersby of the Love Letter Box will find art pieces and letters of love and encouragement. Feel free to leave cards, letters, drawings, poetry, trinkets or more in return to pass it on!
